Probably the most cost-effective upgrade you can do is to increase the memory (RAM) in your PC.
Memory Upgrades
Even if it started out with the recommended amount when it was new it will start to flag a bit after a couple of years of Windows updates and a few flakey programs. In days of old it was necessary to open up a computer to see what type, and how much, memory could be added. Things are far easier now.
1. Go to Crucial memory and download the scanner.2. Close all programs and double click the scanner to run it
3. The details for a memory upgrade will open as a report in a web page
(click here to see a sample highlighting the important bits)
The important information is;
- The maximum amount of memory your machine can handle
- The maximum amount of memory per slot
- The number of empty slots on your motherboard
- The type and speed of the memory for your machine
The web page will show you suitable memory however, using the correct information, you can purchase the memory from many other online sources such as Amazon. If you are unsure then send us the info and we will find it for you and send you the link.
Once your memory arrives you can book us to fit the new memory. At the same time we will check the CPU fan & power supply for dust blockage, reconfigure the computer to use the new memory correctly and undertake any file servicing, speeding up etc. as required.
Memory upgrades are suitable for standby bookings
Important. if you are fitting the new memory yourself ensure not to touch any metal parts with bare hands!
The Stable Door.
Always keep the area around your computer as dust free as possible. Computers suck in air in order to keep cool. Dust will clog the cooling fans which will slow down the machine and can be a fire risk!
